“Go to sleep and wake with a smile on your face. Let your worries melt away and be grateful for what you have right now in your life. This is the first step to feeling truly happy.”—This week is so busy for me, stressful and tiring at times but at the end of each day I count my blessings and awake grateful for the life I have. Sweet dreams J X
www.ted.com is probably one of my favourite websites, it features inspiring talks from incredible people from all walks of life free of charge and is based around the theme “Ideas worth spreading.” Founded in 1984 TED talks started off as a one off conference but has been running annually ever since, it has now expanded globally to Europe and Asia and the talks are available online.
The presenters who feature on the website are really inspiring and I’ve listened to talks about education, food, poetry and technology! A website like this is a great example of how technology and the internet has broadened our world, these talks have given me access and an insight into subjects I never would have even thought I was interested in.
My mum sent me a link to this TED talk below featuring Nancy Duarte. Nancy calls herself an expert communicator, she has written two award winning books and is known for her work with Global companies such as Apple, Google and World Bank just to name a few. The presentation she gives (below) talks about her theory on how to create a presentation with an impact. Public speaking is something I really enjoy and listening to Nancy’s talk was really fascinating, her idea was simple yet powerful!
In an interview the other day I was asked what piece of advice I could offer young women. This is always a tough question for me because I am always seeking advice myself and feel that I am under qualified to answer these sorts of questions. However, after some thought, I responded with "Ask lots of questions, don’t be afraid of being wrong and be open to learning."
One thing I have learnt is never be afraid to ask questions…sometimes you don’t want to hear the answers. It can be confronting or shake up your thoughts and make you think about something from a different perspective but you must be open to learning and becoming a better version of who you are in order to advance in life.
Have had a few questions regarding some recipes, in particular coconut yoghurt. I have to admit though…I am a little embarrassed to reveal this recipe because it is ridiculously easy!!! The only thing that could get tricky is if you don’t have a Vitamix, this wonder of a machine will ensure your yoghurt is of the smoothest consistency and unfortunately cannot be compared to a food processor or any other machine I have used. So here goes…coconut yoghurt.
Flesh of 2 young coconuts (plus water)
1/4 cup of raw cashews
Tsp Vanilla paste
Place all ingredients into your Vitamix and blend until smooth. Add the coconut water until the consistency is perrrfect :) I can’t give you the exact measurements for the water because it depends on how thick you like your yoghurt. Have a play around with it until it is exactly how you like!! Place in fridge to chill then top with a selection of your favourite berries and some chopped nuts - YUM :)
This is perfect on your porridge in the morning or for an afternoon snack. For dessert I’ll have it with berries, some grated dark chocolate and tahini drizzled on top, delicious!
